As New Yorkers prepare for the holidays, Christmas shows are on everyone’s lips in New York City, but some theaters are still closed this year. Christmas is celebrated all over the country, from New Jersey to California and even as far away as Australia and Canada. Here are the best Christmas shows to watch online.

Old Globe: Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas! On the Radio

The Grinch and how he stole Christmas and the story of how Christmas was stolen from him by the Grinch. The Christmas story of Grichardt, about the origins of Christmas and how the Grinch stole it from us.

General nervousness about 2020 prevented the Old Globe from presenting its first Christmas show in San Diego, where the company worked with KPBS to create a free audio stream that aired only four times.

Ballets Ruses: The Slutcracker

Director and choreographer Vanessa White portrays Clara as an adult whose toys play an important but completely different function than before: sexual freedom. Betsy Wolfe, a waitress, plays a Wall Street predator who may have to learn something about the Christmas spirit. Edward Watts reprises his role as Santa Claus, and the cast includes the cast of “A Christmas Carol” and “Christmas in New York City,” as well as a cast from the Old Globe. The cast also includes a number of actors from the Boston area and a guest appearance by the director and co-founder of the company, John D’Amico.

Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol

The series brings to full advantage the characters, stories, and ideas from several of Dickens’s works. The Broadway cast also includes the cast of “A Christmas Carol” and “Christmas in New York City,” as well as a guest appearance by the company’s director and co-founder, John D’Amico. This project is filled with a combination of live-action and digital production techniques, with a special focus on lighting, sound, and sound effects.

Tickets cost $25 for a three-day rental, and proceeds are distributed to participating theaters according to the ZIP code. The wonderful Jefferson Mays, who plays the title role in “A Christmas Carol” and “Christmas in New York City,” raises the stakes to $50 with his new play, adapted by Tony – and wins over Susan Lyons and director Michael Arden. Tickets cost about $50, with three days of rental and a $10 fee for the first two days.

The Nice List

James Monroe, who won a Tony for “Genius” and “Aladdin,” plays Nick in this free, new family musical that explores the magical wishes of a group of children and their magical wish – fulfillment. Alan Muraoka is directing the show, which is staffed by eight actors from “A Christmas in New York City,” “The Wizard of Oz” and other musicals. Donny O’Donnell is playing the title role in a new musical about an inventory classification problem that deals with the absence of great men.

The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Special

Expect plenty of musical comedies with sharp punchlines, but expect much more than that in “A Christmas in New York City” and “The Wizard of Oz.” The action, which is spectacular for one hour, sees the queens divided into two groups who work together against the will of their king and queen. Nog serves as a virtual version of the classic Christmas song “Merry Christmas, Christmas Eve,” which takes on a new twist.

Manual Cinema: A Christmas Carol

Manual Theater performed the show live more than 20 times in December, and tickets cost $15. To give you the pleasure of this year’s Christmas season, the company has launched a new production of “A Christmas Carol,” in which a modern widow and anti-humbugger is involved in a fight between her husband and her daughter.
